That´s 50 words you must know, plus how to form both the infinitive and the past and present participles of the verbs you wish to use in combination.
Is it worth it to learn these fifty words and how to form the participles in order to get this far this fast, in terms of forming sentences and communicating?
You Betcha!
One of the more difficult things for the beginning conversationalist in Spanish is using verbs to construct sentences.
With our approach to using our Dynamic Dozen verbs, we have made it relatively simple to get started getting simply by using 7
of those verbs which you can learn in conjugated form (7 in present tense and 2 of the 7 in imperfect past tense) and which you
can combine with other verbs for which you do not know the conjugations to express the thought you wish to convey.
Using this technique, you can use (almost) ALL verbs in Spanish in without having to know the conjugations for those verbs.
Again, purists might say that Present Progressive is not the same, for example, as the Present Tense. In the purist sense, this is
true.
In the most practical sense, it doesn´t matter, because the meaning is so close that the Spanish speaker with whom you are
conversing will understand exactly what it is you´re saying.
So, below, we´ve given you a look at the some of the more common tenses and subtleties of verbs that will enable you to convey
just what you wish, without the requirement that you know the conjugation for every verb you wish to use.
In fact, I think you will discover that you don´t and won´t use most of the verbs you will learn in conjugated form.
To accomplish the the objectives of using the 7 verbs as illustrated below, you will need to know the following:
Present Tense of Estar
Imperfect Tense of Estar
Present Tense of Haber
Present Tense of Soler
Imperfect Tense of Soler
Present Tense of Acabar
Present Tense of Ir
Present Tense of Poder
Present Tense of Saber
In addition, you will have to know how to form the past participle and the present participle of verbs you wish to use with these
words above.
To form the past participle, drop the "ar", "ir", or "er" ending of the verb and add "ado" for verbs ending in "ar" and add "ido" for
verbs ending in "er" and "ir".
To form the present participle, drop the "ar", "er", or "ir" ending of the verb and add "ando" for "ar" verbs and "iendo" for verbs
ending in "er" or "ir".
You don´t have to be fluent to speak Spanish.
You have to speak Spanish to be fluent.
